JOHN BOXING THE BANK LOAN COLLECTOR

John Cooper later spoke of the repeated meetings, called by bankers, demanding repayment. constantly pressured for further liquidation and repayment, John said to banker Burn Smith, the chief loan collector,

“You may not know what you are doing to Cooper Music. If I used the same tactics I could whip boxing Champion Joe Louis!"

Banker Smith, not amused, said, “What are you saying?"

John replied,” I would box Joe Louis every day, but I would, daily, take a some of his blood. At the first bout he would severely beat me. But, each day, weakened by his loss of blood, Louis would be the victim of my blows until he could no longer answer the bell." John summed up, “Banker Smith you are bleeding cash from Cooper Music, ‘til there’ll be no financial strength left to repay you." Apparently out boxed, thinking there was little else left, the bank called off their collector Smith.
